Granados: Danza Española No. 2 (Oriental) - arr. for 2 guitars
Granados: Danza Española No. 2 (Oriental) - arr. for 2 guitars
Composer: Enrique Granados (1867-1916)
Piece: Danza Española No. 2 "Oriental" / (Spanish Dance No. 2 "Oriental")
Arranged for 2 guitars by Jeremy Hiniker
This arrangement features the two guitar parts together in standard notation and is three pages in length. It has been transposed to A minor (originally in C minor) to accommodate the guitar's register and tuning. This piece is usually between 4-6 minutes, depending on the performers interpretation.
This hauntingly beautiful piece was a joy to arrange while in my first performing guitar duo. I found that many duos performed this piece differently and decided to pick my favorite elements of each to create my very own arrangement. My advice to the performers would be to have partners trading off parts at each repeat to create a lovely interplay in the melodies. This is why there is not separate parts included. Furthermore, I have notated artificial harmonics at m. 40-43. To be clear, these should be played along with the voice beneath on the staff. The harmonics are notated to be the exact pitch intended.
